2007, 37(3): 17-19. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200703005
Abstract:
Accelerating the construction of residentialsystem anddeveloping energy efficiency buildings in westernregion in China is a significant action to realize overall comparatively good living standard. In rural areas in northwestern China, thecurrent construction materials are mainly clay bricks and the current housings in rural areas are not energy efficient. Itshould be found out a material suited for ruralareas in northwestern China to replace brick as soon as possible. Straw baleconstruction is famous as its energy efficiency. Especially, straw bale is much superior to brick in energy consumptionincluding production consumption, raw material consumption, transport consumption, construction consumption and usingconsumption. Compared with brick, straw bale may save a lot of coal and land, may reduce carbon dioxide and smoke anddust. In addition, there are several beneficial conditions in northwest rural areas to construct straw bale houses.

Li Guangxing, Cai Jian, Wang Lin, Huang Yansheng
2007, 37(3): 33-37. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200703010
Abstract:
The effective torsion section is put forward to reflect the torsion action of the column limb based on the rigiditytheory of transverse torsion member of reinforced concrete flat plate_rectangular column connection and aimed at thecharacteristic of the reinforced concrete flat plate_special_shaped column connection. Because the rigidity of the transversetorsion member is various, the hypothesis is made that the linear torison along transverse torsion member is distributed in twodifferent slant lines. The theory expression of transverse torsion member is derived. By the finite element procedure ANSYS,the effective range of the special_shaped column limb contributed to the torsion rigidity is confirmed and the rigidities oftransverse torsion members are evaluated according to different factors. The analysis result also shows that the height of theeffective column limb is equal to the thickness of the flat plate. The trends of rigidities obtained by the finite element methodagree wellwith those of the theory expression method. The theory expression of transverse torsion member can be applied toequivalent column method to analyze the behavior of reinforced concrete flat plate_special_shaped column structural system.

According to the technical standard of prestressed concrete pipe pile, the reinforced concrete arefilled in the upper pile for one meter to improve the ductility and enhance bearing capacity. But the bearing capacity andductility of filled prestressed concrete pipe pile are rarely known upto now. Two specimens were tested in low_cycle reverseloads to investigate the momen bearing capacity and ductility performance for both filled pile and unfilled one. The tests showthatthe ductility factor of section and the moment bearing capacity of the filled pipe pile have larger improvement ascompared with those of the unfilled one.

2007, 37(3): 66-71,41. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200703017
Abstract:
The application of artificial neural networks (ANNs) to predict the ultimate bond strengths of CFRP bonded toconcrete is investigated. An ANN model is built, trained and tested using 118 sets of test data collected from the technicalliteratures. The data used in the ANN model are arranged in a format of 8 input parameters that cover the compressivestrength, tensile strength andwidth of cube concrete; the thickness, the width, the bond length and the elastic modulus ofthe CFRP plate. 15 sets of experimental data are usedfor predicting. The results predicted by the ANN model are comparedwith those obtained by 4 empirical equations. The results show that ANN is a feasible tool for predicting the ultimate bondstrengths of CFRP bonded to concrete.

2007, 37(3): 72-74,116. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200703018
Abstract:
Blast furnace slag aggregates (BFSA) were used to produce high -strength concretes (HSC) . Different water-binder ratios ( 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45 and 0.50) were used to do tests of 7-day and28?day compressive strength and otherproperties of conventional (reference) concrete and BFSA concrete. Super -plasticizer and 10% silica fume were used toimprove BFSA concretes. Slump was kept constant throughout this study. It concluded that compressive strength of BFSAconcretes are approximately 26%~ 87% higher than reference concretes for different water ?binder ratios. These concretesalso have lower water absorption, higher splitting tensile strength and lower brittleness.

Cai Jian, He Zhenqiang, Chen Xing
2007, 37(3): 75-80,113. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200703019
Abstract:
A test on eight specimens of rectangle concrete filled steel tubular ( R -CFT) stub columns, including onespecimen without binding bars and seven specimenswith binding bars, is carried out, aiming at axially -loaded behavior ofR -CFT influenced by binding bars. The primary study parameters are diameter and space of binding bar, width -thicknessratio of steel tube and length-width ratio of specimen cross-section. It is shown that the binding bars do enhance ductility anddeformability of R -CFT, though not contributing to the ultimate bearing capacity of R -CFT. Finally, a comparison betweenthe ultimate bearing capacity, calculated by the current methods at home and that of EC4(1996) respectively, and thecounterpart of experiment results is conducted, which shows that the results of calculation are conservative.

Guo Bingshan, Zhuang Xiaoyong
2007, 37(3): 81-85,65. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200703020
Abstract:
It was performed nonlinear finite element analysis for K shape eccentrically braced steel frames on differentlength of link beam. Analysis indicates that the strength, rigidity, ductility and energy -dissipation performance of K shapeeccentrically braced steel frames deteriorate differently with the length increase of link beam. The shorter the link beam is,the larger plastic deformation of it, so itmakes plastic collapse easily, while a long link beam has a poor cyclic behavior. Atthe end of this paper, suggestions on design of the length of link beam based on finite element simulation results arepresented.

Failure patterns of specimens are obtained and it is analyzed the influence of shear span ratio, axialcompression ratio, stirrup ratio and grade of concrete strength on shear performance of steel reinforced high -strengthcolumns. A calculating formula for shear bearing capacity of steel reinforced high -strength columns is presented. Thisformula is consistent with the formula for shear strength in the current code ( GB 50010 -2002) , whose calculating resultstend to be safe.
