The shape design of a building will affect the building energy -saving. It is pointed out that the building shapecoefficient and the surface area coefficient should be controlled or reduced aswell as the obtained heat of daily radiation inbuilding shape design. According to the peculiarity of residential building in Xi. an, it is analyzed the relations amonglength, width and height of 2 000~ 7 000m 2 multiple storey residential building on the principle of shape coefficient ofbuilding S [ 013 according to the suggestions in / Energy Conservation Design Standard for New Heating ResidentialBuilding0, which may be a reference for design of energy saving shape of a building.
