EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON BEHAVIOR OF RECTANGLE CFT STUB COLUMN WITH BINDING BARS SUBJECTED TO AXIALLY LOADING

  • A test on eight specimens of rectangle concrete filled steel tubular ( R -CFT) stub columns, including onespecimen without binding bars and seven specimenswith binding bars, is carried out, aiming at axially -loaded behavior ofR -CFT influenced by binding bars. The primary study parameters are diameter and space of binding bar, width -thicknessratio of steel tube and length-width ratio of specimen cross-section. It is shown that the binding bars do enhance ductility anddeformability of R -CFT, though not contributing to the ultimate bearing capacity of R -CFT. Finally, a comparison betweenthe ultimate bearing capacity, calculated by the current methods at home and that of EC4(1996) respectively, and thecounterpart of experiment results is conducted, which shows that the results of calculation are conservative.
