Based on summarizing the mechanical characteristics of arch-supported reticulated shell structures, the concept of tensigrity system is introduced into the arch-supported reticulated shell, which as solved the problems of large reaction of the support in an arch-supported reticulated shell,as well as the difficulty in the design of a bearing structure. It is also analyzed the static behavior and stability of a cable supported arch-dome structure combined with an actual project. The introduction of tensigrity can decrease greatly the support reaction of the arch-supported reticulated shell structure and also inpove its stability. The basic dynamic characteristics of the two types of structures are compared, with which stiffness and natural frequency of vibration are got.
