PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN FOR CRITICAL BUILDING——AN EXEMPLARY ANALYSIS
Peng Lingyun, Zhou Xiyuan, Yan Weiming, Han Wei, Ke Changhua
2006, 36(9): 6-10.
Abstract:
For critical buildings, due to the special shape demands, the structural layouts often become irregular. On the other hand, because of the importance of their function, the seismic design criterion of these buildings is higher than normal ones. The designer of structure usually encounters difficulty and challenge in the seismic design. Two approaches to improve the seismic performance of buildings were presented: One is to reallocate the bending stiffness of the local structural members in order to make the distribution of structural stiffness uniform inherently though the appearance is irregular. The other is to add some oil dampers to buildings, which may provide additional damping for structures. The analysis results indicated that the structural seismic performance could be obviously enhanced due to adoption of above approaches, and the sections of structural members ( column, beam) could be reduced, and then to get better cost performance.

Yang Lin, Zhou Xiyuan, Su Youpo, Chang Yongping
2006, 36(9): 24-29.
Abstract:
If the displacement of rubber bearing of base- isolated buildings, which is usually caused by some what resonance effect from long period ground motion, the additional stiffness components will work together with rubber bearings and then the possibility of further increase of the displacement of rubber bearing is suppressed and reaches the prescribed limitation because the natural period of the base isolation building has been changed. However the extra stiffness would let the story shear forces of the super-structure slightly increase. A mult-i particle structural analytic model is set up. The motion equations of three states of non- affixation, right affixation and left affixation are deduced, and the computer program is developed. On the basis of exemplary analysis for typical base- isolated building , the effectiveness of the device in limitation of developing large lateral displacement of rubber bearing is demonstrated and the way of choosing appropriate parameters for the protective device is discussed.

Comparing with the traditional method using hysteretic loop, the method of dissipation power seems obviously more useful when assessing the capacity of dampercs power dissipation. After analyzing the difference of dampercs energy dissipation, between two waveshapes of a simple loop load test, a comprehensive method for the capacity assessment of dampercs power dissipation is suggested.

Lu Fei, Cheng Wenrang, Li Aiqun, Huang Zhen, Su Yi
2006, 36(9): 33-35.
Abstract:
After analyzing the simple cyclic loading test, a concept of loading test with random process is suggested. As for certain power spectrum and displacement, one stochastic process is simulated and used into servo- dynamic test system. On the other hand, the condition of varying power spectrum and displacement is also considered. For analyzing the result of random test, the methods of equivalent stiffness, equivalent damping coefficient based on statistics are prompted. The random testing method resolved the coupling between loading velocity and frequency, and also simplified the assorting of loading circumstance. M eanwhile, the random testing method achieved the dynamic test for instantaneous characteristic of the specimen. As for other specimen such as rubber isolator, this method also has an advantage of utilization.

The comparative study include equa-l diameter pile and equa-l diameter pile, equa-l diameter pile and tapered pile, tapered pile and tapered pile, equa-l diameter pile and belled pile, belled pile and belled pile. The results show that the bearing capacity per volume of pile is not all higher when its bearing capacity is higher. The bearing capacity per volume of tapered pile and belled pile are comparatively better. The bearing capacity per volume of short and thick tapered pile is better than long and slender tapered pilecs. Expect for especial circumstance, the belled diameter of belled pile and the diameter of equa-l diameter pile should not be big excessively. The rational selection of geometry dimension of pile is essential after the type of pile is confirmed. The measures of pouring slurry in pile end, making pile puncture into better bearing layer, cleaning out sediment of hole bottom can improve the bearing capacity per volume of a pile.

The defects mentioned above were avoided in improved rapid chloride ion penetration test and dichloromethane immersion test. Good correlation between the results of improved rapid chloride ion penetration test and dichloromethane immersion test was presented.
