A series of compression and tension static loading tests for DX piles with double bulbs which were respectively installed in silty fine sand and sandy silt were conducted in field. The ultimate bearing capacities are determined, its load transfer mechanism is analysed, and the distribution and development of the skin-friction resistances, the bulb resistances and the tip resistances of DX piles of this kind are studied. The test results supplies full and accurate bases for engineering applications.
