CONCEPT PLANNING AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF CHONGQING INDUSTRIAL MUSEUM
Abstract
Chongqing Industrial Museum was proposed to set up on the original site of section steel plant of the former
Chongqing Iron and Steel Works in order to lengthen the lifeline of a history of 120 years. To solve the contradictions
among the protection & reuse of industrial heritages,the newly built creative industrial park,commercial mating
facilities,as well as the single space and new city with complex functions in the traditional industrial area,an integral
and multivariate cultural and industrial expo area would be created by combining old industrial park with new
downtown area,through retaining most of the industrial heritages to create the indicative and vivid landscapes. Thus a
new life and energy would be given to the whole area by way of a series of guided developments and reforms,as well
as accomplishing its role conversion.
