It is found that the calculated flexural capacity from formula provided in the code is significantly larger than the numerical results and test results when the axial load ratio is low,and is much smaller when the ratio is high.In order to overcome this deficiency,a new method is proposed to calculate flexural capacity,in which the characteristic of circular section and the stress distribution of the section are considered.The calculated results agree well with numerical results.
