FE ANALYSIS OF CIRCULAR CFST COLUMNS IN FIRE

  • CFST(concrete-filled steel tubular) columns are widely used in practical engineering for its excellent working performance.The core concrete can absorb lots of heat,when outer steel tube is exposed to fire(high temperature),making the temperature of the tube increase more slowly than a single steel tube.So CFST columns have a higher fire resistance than that of bare steel columns.Based on the present material models at elevated temperature,a suitable core concrete material model was modified.A finite element model of circular CFST column was established using ABAQUS software to calculate the fire resistance and the axial displacement vs.time curves.A comparison of the fire resistance between the calculated results and experimental data was discussed,and mechanical behavior analysis of CCFST columns was also performed.Using the method mentioned above,further studies on fire behavior of CFST structures can be performed.
