The carbonation character and mechanism of cover concrete of reinforced concrete bridges in northwestern arid regions are discussed.Based on the data of concrete strength and depth of carbonation acquired from inspection in-site,the formula of life forecasting is put foreward.The accelerating carbonation of concrete test specimen was also done in the lab.The reasonable depth of concrete cover and concrete strength of railway bridges suitable for arid regions is given through regressive analysis
