Xue Wei-chen, Zeng Lei
2006, 36(4): 12-14. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200604004
Abstract:
The new method using CFRP laminates to strengthen concrete beams has several disadvantages: the strength of CFRP laminates could not be thoroughly utilized and the serviceability of strengthened concrete beams could not be significantly improved. The applied prestressing in CFRP laminates could not only make full use of the strength of the CFRP laminates but also effectively enhance the forced properties of the strengthened beams, thus preventing development of the deformations and cracks.Present investigations on prestressed CFRP laminates mainly focus on anchorage system, experimental and theoretical studies as well as nonlinear element analysis of strengthened concrete beams. This paper summarizes the upto-date achievements of concrete beams strengthened with prestressed CFRP laminates.Furthermore, the future of CFRP laminates is prospected.
