INFLUENCE OF MICRO-CRACK DAMAGE ON THE STRENGTH OF FIBER COMPOSITE LAMINATE

  • Based on the continuous damage theory and Hoffman strength criterion,utilizing multi-scalar damage model and finite element method,the damage and failure of composite laminate under transverse even load are researched.The geometric nonlinear influence and stiffness deduction caused by micro-crack damage before failure of laminate are considered.Results show that evolvement of failure regions is obviously affected by micro-crack;load-carrying capacity of laminate calculated by Hoffman criterion for damage is higher than that by Hoffman criterion for non-damage, the degree is depended on the fiber direction.
