There is little literature on the sound fields characteristics of Chinese traditional courtyards so far. Three
main courts in Shenyang Palace Museum were chosen as research subjects. Firstly a dodecahedron sound player was
placed as a continuous sound source in the courtyard,and the sound pressure level on the adjacent courtyard was
tested. It is intended to analyze the sound private degree in Shenyang Palace courtyards. Then the sound cutting
method was used to systematically test reverberation time T10 as the important acoustic index in Palace courtyards.
The results of this research will be help to understand the sound field characteristics of the ancient palace courtyard
and set up a solid foundation for the future study.
