Door and window have sizable energy consumption for buildings in hot summer and cold winter zone. For
the purpose of studying suitable shading technology for external windows of buildings in hot summer and cold winter
zone,this paper surveys the typical shading technology in typical cities Shanghai and Huzhou ( Zhejiang Province) .
The survey shows that horizontal shading board is a common shading technology in this area. Based on which a
building energy comsumption analysis model is built. Building energy consumption simulation software DeST is used
to research the relationship between the depth of horizontal shading board and building energy consumption in this
area. The results of this research will provide a reference foundation for shading reconstruction in hot summer and
cold winter zone.
