COMPARISON AND SELECTION OF METHODS FOR MEASURING THE PERMEABILITY OF CONCRETE

  • Water penetration test, improved rapid chloride ion penetration test and dichloromethane immersion test were used to measure the permeability of concrete specimens with different strength grades and mixing proportions. The results indicated that restrained effects on the concrete structures in field engineering were not considered in the water penetration test, whose application was strongly dependent upon the strength grade of concrete. The defects mentioned above were avoided in improved rapid chloride ion penetration test and dichloromethane immersion test. Good correlation between the results of improved rapid chloride ion penetration test and dichloromethane immersion test was presented.
