It was analyzed the distortional buckling of the flange-lip section in closed form solution. Through modelling the flange-lip section as a parallel system resisting bending loads, it was also proposed formulas to calculate the equivalent bending rigidity of the lip. Using the analytic methods,the bucklings of Z and C sections under axial loading were investigated. The critical stresses of local and distortional bucklings,buckling factors,together with buckling wave-length. Approximate formulas with excellent accuracy were proposed.
