The article introduces a technology of applying X-shaped steel mesh combined with high-strength mortar in the reinforcement of brick walls. Then an experiment was conducted to test the effect after the reinforcement under low-cyclic loading. It analysed was the hysteretic characteristics, failure mode, energy dissipation and shear resistance of brick walls with this strengthening method. And the influence of using X-shaped steel mesh combined with high-strength mortar on the seismic behavior of the brick walls was also discussed. The tests show that using this strengthening method can make the walls own a high degree of ultimate shear strength, and greatly improve the walls' ability to resist earthquake forces.Structural deformation and capacity of energy dissipation can also be increased.
