One typical brace-frame joint usually used in the high-rise steel structures was researched by the mechanics analysis and numerical analysis method in the paper.Based on the mechanics analysis,the defect of bearing capacity was discussed.Finite element analyses were conducted on 27 joints of various parameters influencing joints behavior,such as section width-to-height ratio,flange width-to-thickness ratio,and web depth-to-thickness ratio.Based on the result of the numerical analysis,the defect was verified.Finally an improvement measure was given.
