100 mm Split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) apparatus was applied to study the dynamic mechanical properties of AFRP(aramid fiber-reinforced plastic) confined concrete.The comprehensive evaluation system consisted of peak strain method and characteristics point method was selected to analyse the dynamic compressive toughness of AFRP concrete.It was found out that the dynamic compressive toughness of AFRP confined concrete made by different strength of concrete would increase with the increased strain rate; AFRP confined concrete could increase the dynamic peak strain; the confined effect could improve the dynamic compressive toughness of concrete obviously as well as to increase the antiimpact mechanical properties.
