In order to investigate the working mechanism of reinforced pile-supported foundation, field tests in Shenzhen Airport Apron had been performed. The test results of settlement and pore water pressure were analyzed and compared in detail. The results showed that the reinforced pile-supported foundation could reduce the total settlements and differential settlements, the differential settlements were 19 ~ 25 mm. The soil arching effect existed within the embankment. The height of soil arching was about 0. 83 ~ 1. 04 times the pile clear spacing. The average height of soil aching was about 0. 94 times the pile clear spacing. The differential settlement was closely related to soil arching effect, and the differential settlement was the prerequisite to produce soil arching.
