The concrete resistance to sulfate attack was improved by applying repair mortar overlay(RMO)-cement paste coating in different ways.The degradation mechanisms and processes of sulfate attack in concrete with different ways of applying coatings were discussed.Results showed that the penetration of sulfate ions into concrete was effectively reduced by applying the coatings on both the positive and the negative side.It's more efficient on preventing sulfate attack by applying the coatings on the positive side.
