RESEARCH ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE FILLED DOUBLE SKIN (CHS INNER AND SHS OUTER) STEEL TUBULAR MEMBER SUBJECTED TO BIAXIAL COMPRESSION

  • Six concrete filled double-skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns were tested under bi-eccentric loading condition,in order to study the effects of slenderness ratio,load eccentricity and load angle on the mechanical behavior of the specimens. The test results show that the deformation of the specimens agrees basically with the planesection assumption; the larger the slenderness ratio and load eccentricity,the lower the bearing capacity; load angle has little effect on the load-deformation relationship curves. Finally,load-deformation relationship curves of CFDST subjected to biaxial compression are analyzed by fiber element method. The calculated results are compared with the experimental results,and they agreed well with each other.
