According to the field test of caisson and rootstalk caisson under lateral static load,the behaviors of caisson and rootstalk foundation under lateral load are studied. At first,the caisson was loaded by the single cycle load holding method in the test. Then,the caisson was fitted on rootstalks and tested. The horizontal bearing capacities of the caisson and the rootstalk caisson were measured,and the deformation and caisson bending moment were obtained. The results of the experiment indicate that horizontal bearing capacity of the rootstalk caisson increased by nearly 60 percent. The effect of rootstalk is obvious when the horizontal force is great.
