INVESTIGATION AND ANALYSIS ON DAMAGES TO REINFORCED CONCRETE FRAME AND BENT STRUCTURES BY 5.12 WENCHUAN EARTHQUAKE

  • According to the investigation and analysis on the reinforced concrete frame and bent structures in different regions, of different forms and degrees of damages due to May 12 Wenchuan Earthquake, it has been found out that the majority of serious damages were caused by such structure whose maximum security structure intensity was 1 to 2 degrees below the seismic intensity. Other factors that have caused the collapse include unreasonable design, poor quality construction and so on. Therefore, it is summarized the matters needing attention during design and construction of the structures, which could provide some reference information for engineers, technical personnel and construction personnel.
