Lead has a good deformability.Based on the properties of this deformability and recovering without strain-hardening,a rod-like lead shear damper,which is installed at the end(plastic hinge)of a beam for a framed joint,is presented, and it is primarily used in the dissipation of earthquake energy.Based on the finite element method(FEM) analytical results,it is found that this type of damper can effectively increase the damping ratio of a beam during a earthquake,and the performance is stable.
