ANSYS,a large general FEM software,is selected to analyze high strength bolt in extended end-plate connections,about Mises stress nephogram,deformation of end-plate,distribution of prying force and tensile force of bolt.Prying force is proved to exist according to the results of FEM analysis.The influence of prying force descends obviously by the thickness of end-plate and the stiffener.It indicates that the prying force increases the tensile force of bolt assuredly.The tensile force's distribution of high strength bolt is a trapezoid which is rolled by the center of compression flange.By the result of calculation formula,it indicates that the formula of prying force is simple and applicable for design.
