EXPERIMENT ON THE FORMS OF REINFORCEMENT AFFECTING LOAD BEARING BEHAVIOR OF DEEP PILE CAPS

  • To study the effects of reinforcement forms on the load bearing behavior of deep pile caps, through the destructive tests of three nine-pile caps with different forms of reinforcement, the load-bearing mechanism and failure modes of the pile caps. The analytical results proved that the load bearing behavior of pile caps conforms to stru-t and-tie models, reinforcement arranged in bunch can make full use of the tensile performance of reinforcement, mat reinforcement arranged in the middle of pile cap can delay the splitting of concrete struts, and the combination of bunch reinforcement and middle mat reinforcement can increase the bearing capacity of pile caps effectively. Finally, some suggestions on designing pile cap reinforcement are given.
