EXPERIMENTAL RULES OF SLAKING FOR K0 COMPRESSED CLAY AND ITS DESCRIPTION

  • In this paper, from results of K 0 compression tests and slaking tests on both dry clay and saturated clay in Olympic Park, some conclusions are obtained: in e-lgp paragraph, when the normal compressed dry clay is wetted under different stresses, the void ratios all reach compression line of saturated clay; while different over compressed dry clay in the same pre-consolidation pressure is wetted, the void ratios also reach one line approx imately. Concluding from the results of slaking tests, a mathematical description is worked out to describe wetting deformations under K0 compression. Using this mathematic description, a prediction for wetting deformations is given out and it agree well with the tests results.
