PRELIMINARY RESEARCH ON SAFETY OF CONCRETE FILLED THIN-WALLED STEEL TUBULAR STRUCTURES DURING CONSTRUCTION

  • The hollow steel tubes used in concrete filled thin-walled steel tubular structures are often served as formwork for the infill of concrete.The hollow steel tubes suffer the vertical construction loads and self-weight of the structures, as well as the hydrostatic loads of inner wet concrete or other dynamic loads during the construction stage.This paper firstly determined the construction load based on a literature review.Then, a finite element analysis was performed for hollow steel tubes under construction loads.Based on the analysis results of an example, some key issues on the construction safety of concrete-filled thin -walled steel tubular structures were discussed.
