Bolted T -stub connection ismodeled by a continuous beam with spring supports that are simplified from preloadedbolt and the compacted plates, from which the formula calculating the initial stiffness of T -stub connection is drawn. Bycomparison with the results of tests, finite element analysis and European code, it. s found that the formula can give moreaccurate initial stiffness than European code for non -preloaded T -stub connection, and can give satisfactory result of initialstiffness for preloaded one.
