The shear -lag coefficient and deformation of T -shaped short-leg shear wall are solved based on variationprinciple, various parameters and loading forms which may impact the shear -lag are discussed.The distribution oflongitudinal stress in the flange is analyzed using FEA method.The deformation and stress according to primary beamtheory, variation principle and FEA method are compared, and their impact on the stiffness of the short -leg shear wall isdiscussed
