EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS ON PROPERTIES OF HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE BY USE OF BLAST FURNACE SLAG AGGREGATE

  • Blast furnace slag aggregates (BFSA) were used to produce high -strength concretes (HSC) . Different water-binder ratios ( 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45 and 0.50) were used to do tests of 7-day and28?day compressive strength and otherproperties of conventional (reference) concrete and BFSA concrete. Super -plasticizer and 10% silica fume were used toimprove BFSA concretes. Slump was kept constant throughout this study. It concluded that compressive strength of BFSAconcretes are approximately 26%~ 87% higher than reference concretes for different water ?binder ratios. These concretesalso have lower water absorption, higher splitting tensile strength and lower brittleness.
