DISCUSSION OF CONNECTION CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM FOR COMPOSITE JOINT

  • Some connection classification systems presented by scholars were reviewed.The systems were applied in the composite joints in this paper.From endplate composite joint specimens test result conducted by authors, it was found that the classification system by Bjorhovde et al do not require the detail of the joints in calculation but often lead to mistakes, the criteria of classification in EC3 is basically suitable for the application in composite joints and the classification system presented by Nethercot et al is too conservative.Compared with these three methods, the nonlinear moment-rotation curves model is more accurate to categorize a real connection into any of three types: rigid, semi_rigid or flexible, if the calculation parameters are determinated based on the test.
