By means of the current largest model box in domestic geotechnical centrifuges and 400gt centrifuge, the foundation of cargo field and its substratum have been studied. The deformation process under 28m thick silty sand fill and 55kN/m2 working load,the time-settlement curve, as well as the compressive deformation, density, modulus of compressibility and bearing capacity of filled sand itself along depth were simulated and predicted. It is indicated that the centrifuge te st results have guidable significance to reasonable determining of both cubic metre of filled sand and the scheme, the depth and the degree of soil improvement.
