The finite element analysis of masonry structures has always been complex and difficult to ensure its
accuracy. To avoid the difference of the stiffness by using the equivalent framework to simplify and analyse the
masonry,the single bending deformation adjustment factor α and single shear deformation adjustment factor β were
used to adjust the stiffness of the structure,which was verified from theoretical analysis and simulation,showing that
the introduction of the adjustment factors was accurate and reasonable to do the nonlinear numerical analysis of the
masonry. The result also showed that using shear deformation adjustment factor was superior to bending adjustment
factor in precision of simulating.
