An excellent historic building has been used for 80 years,there are damages and obvious structural aging,
which need to be reinforced and renovated. The field testing and seismic qualification were done for the original
building,whose results could basically meet the requirements of the current norms in China. Based on the actual
situation that the original structural steel members were corroded,protection layer falled off and resistance to lateral
force was insufficient ,it was developed a reinforcement design scheme,and proposed the measures of adding shearwall
and reinforcing its base,sticking steel plate outside and affixing carbon fabric to reinforce the original steel
beams and columns. Then checking was carried out for seismic analysis of the reinforced structure the settlement
observation was done during construction,the reform effect was excellent.
