Abstract

Abstract

It was introduced recent studies in China on the instability of steel beams，summarized the widely accepted conclusions from study on beam instability，and stated the demand required by the safety index to codify the beam stability factors． A new formula，named as modified ECCS curve，is proposed for the beam stability factor and a comparison between suggested and a currently used curves on beam stability factors is presented．
