Based on Terzaghi's one dimensional consolidation theory，the practical calculation method of the ground subsidence was proposed under water level change of various types of ground water． The calculation program was compiled to calculate and analyze ground subsidence caused by drawing ground water． This program was also used to compute the ground subsidence in the eastern region of Beijing． By comparison with the measured results，the reliability and rationality of the calculation method and the program were verified．
