ANALYSIS OF GLOBAL STABILITY OF COLD-FORMED Z PURLINS UNDER WIND SUCTION

  • Based on the buckling theory of thin-walled members,it was derived the total potentials for instability of cold-formed Z-purlins under wind suction whose lateral displacement of top flange was prohibited. The expressions of the critical moments of the purlins without and with one sag rod were obtained. The results were compared with numerical results using shell elements of ANSYS. It was explored the internal essence of the global stability of the purlin,it was shown by the calculation that the sag rod could be regarded as lateral full support of the purlin.
