EFFECT OF WELD BETWEEN SIDE-PLATE AND BEAM FLANGE ON THE BRITTLE FRACTURE OF SIDE-PLATE REINFORCED JOINT

  • Taking side-plate reinforced joint as the research object, this study simulated transient welding process for the connecting weld between side-plate and beam flange.Based on above research, the effects of residual stress at the joint of the side plate and beam flange on plastic equivalent strain index and rupture index were analyzed according to the two models either with or without welding residual stress.The results show that welding residual stress affects obviously the brittle fracture possibility of the joint, and the position where a brittle fracture can easily occur is also found out.
