Based on the experiment of circular timber columns made of deal and fir strengthened by near-surface mounted CFRP sheets under axial compression, the failure modes, axial bearing capacity, and loading-strain curves were analyzed.The results showed that comparing with the specimens without being strengthened by CFRP sheets, the axial bearing capacity of the specimens strengthened by CFRP sheets was improved.The axial bearing capacity of deal specimens was improved by 6.9%~24.1%, and the axial bearing capacity of fir specimens was improved by 24.1%~63.2%.Based on experimental data, the computing formulas of axial bearing capacity of circular timber columns made of deal and fir strengthened by near-surface mounted CFRP sheets were presented respectively.
