  • The ends of reinforced concrete (RC) frame members are often modeled with rigid zones in the response analysis of RC frame structures, considering the relatively large stiffness of node panels.The seismic response and damage progress of RC frame structures are significantly influenced by the settings of rigid zones.In this paper the effect of different setting methods for rigid zones is investigated by flexibility-based finite fiber element analysis, and advices are also proposed with the design practice in China taken into account.
