The fire resistance behaviour and design of concrete-filled SHS(square hollow sections) columns are oneof the key issues in practice, thus many researchers abroad and at home are concerned with this field. Previousresearch and codes are based essentially on a four-side heated boundary hypothesis. However, concrete-filled SHScolumns may be exposure to non-uniform fires, including one-side fire, two adjacent sides fire and three-side fire. There are different fire resistance behaviors between non-uniform fire conditions from four-side fire condition. Theresearch herein focuses on one of the non-uniform fire types-two-opposite-side fire, to study the fire resistance ofconcrete filled SHS. Based on parametric analysis, simplified calculation formula for predicting the residual loadbearing capacity was deduced through massive calculation and the formula is expected to be used in the design of thefire resistance of the concrete-filled SHS being exposure to two-opposite-side fire.
