The mechanical behavior of large pre-stressed concrete full containment LNG tank roof was analyzed. According to the existing project, the physical model of large pre-stressed concrete full containment LNG tank is established with finite element method (FEM). The geometry factors implicating the stress and deformation of the roof were considered during the phase of project design, including external tank diameter, curvature radius of the roof and the thickness of roof. By calculating the LNG tanks with different dimensions and contrasting the results, the optimal states of the geometry factors on stress and deformation are obtained, which provides suggestions on designing the large LNG tanks and lays a foundation for China' s independent design of large-size LNG tanks.
