EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF SEVERE EARTHQUAKE-DAMAGED GFRP TUBED REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE PIERS REPAIRED WITH WRAPPED CFRP SHEETS

  • In order to investigate the seismic behavior of earthquake-damaged GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) tubed reinforced concrete bridge piers repaired with wrapped CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer or plastics) sheets,four GFRP tubed RC bridge piers repaired with wrapped CFRP sheets were tested under repeat low cyclic load. The hysteresis loops,skeleton curves,ductility and energy dissipation ability of the repaired RC bridge piers were compared with those of the original piers. Research show that the bearing capacity and ductility of the repaired bridge piers can be restored or even improved.
