The ratio of hematite tailings from western Hubei Province, as the main material in preparation of nonburned and non-autoclaved bricks, to standard building sands were studied in this paper. In addition, the effects of forming water contents, forming pressures and mixture contents on compressive strength were also investigated. The results showed that the non-burned and non-autoclaved brick with compressive strength at 15.9MPa could be prepared in the optimum condition of 78% hematite tailing, 10% the standard building sand, 10% cement, 2% gypsum, 15% molding water, 20 MPa molding pressure, and 0.01% triethanolamine. The strength of product meeted the standard of JC /T422-2007 and this technology could promote the comprehensive utilization of the hematite tailings from western Hubei Province.
