Six self-compacting concrete beams and two corresponding ordinary concrete beams of two different strength grades were used to study anti-bending properties of concrete freely supported beams.The results show: 1)the mean of the experimental data of ultimate load of self-compacting concrete beams is close to that of corresponding ordinary concrete beams,and is higher than its theoretical value;2) the loading-deflection curves,the crack development and the failure mode of the two kinds of beams are basically the same;3) the average strain along section height of self-compacting concrete beams can fit with the assumption of plane section basically.Therefore,it is reasonable and safe to design the self-compacting concrete beams according to the theory of ordinary concrete.
