The bearing capacity and ductility can be obviously increased by the confinement of CFRP and angle steel.Based on the existing experimental data,the mechanical model and the confinement mechanism of concrete column reinforced by CFRP and angle steel are studied,the concept of effective confinement zone is introduced,and then the calculating method of effective confinement area of concrete column reinforced by CFRP or angle steel are respectively proposed.Therefore,the effect of CFRP layer,the area of angle steel,the rebar,and the shape of concrete column on bearing capacity are well considered,the calculating model for the bearing capacity of concrete column reinforced by CFRP and angle steel is established.The predictions of the model agree well with the experimental results,which may also provide the references for engineering practice.
