According to the comparison of the flat dilatometer test results to those of laboratory test and through trial calculation,it was given empirical formula of applying flat dilatometer test to determine the coefficient of earth pressure at rest in Xian loess foundation. The calculated results agreed basically with those of basically laboratory test,whose errors are between 2% to 5%.
