A new type of concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) column-RC beam joint was presented in this paper. In the CFST column-RC beam connecting zone, the out steel tube of CFST column locally opened with rectangular hole and stiffened, the longitudinal reinforcing bars in RC beam stretched into the joint. The concrete was monolithically cast in the region of the beam, the column and the joint. The construction of joint was simplified and the joint stiffness was strengthened. The failure process and the failure mode of the specimens studied by experiments. The studies showed that the joint did not fail when the specimen was in limit state, while the beam and the column were damaged. The feasibility of the joint in the static load was proved. The joint meets the seismic design principles strong column, weak beam, stronger joint
